Big Issue Invest is the investment arm of The Big Issue Group. Big Issue Invest is the first UK Social Merchant Bank started by entrepreneurs, for entrepreneurs.

In 2020, we launched our new mission statement in our Impact Report. Now we want to work towards this mission statement and share this journey with you.

This is the first event of our Big Issue Invest Insight Series where we explore how Big Issue Invest is thinking about Impact, DEI and Research as a Social Investor and invite you to share your thoughts, recommendations and challenges.

This two hour event will focus on three themes:

• Showcasing our impact approach and theory of change, how we think about impact measurement and management, and a demonstration of the practical tools we use to measure impact on the frontline.

• Sharing our diversity, equality, and inclusion (“DEI”) work to date, a demonstration of our DEI measurement tool, and gaining feedback on where BII can improve our DEI approach.

• Presenting our ongoing research project: ‘The Beyond The Cheque Initiative’, funded by Esmee Fairbairn and The Access Foundation, which looks at understanding how we can better measure technical assistance provided by social investors, and whether it provides any real benefit to social enterprises.

We will also be sharing tools for how we are collecting data for this work and information on how you can get involved!

There will be three break-out rooms to do a deep dive into each of these areas and to give us an opportunity to demonstrate the tools we are using in smaller groups.

This event will be held on Zoom and is open to anyone who wants to learn more about how BII approaches impact, DEI, and research.
